“Don’t just do something, sit there” - an introduction to insight meditation and mindfulness - 3 hour workshop.

Have you ever felt as if you live in a state of “continual partial attention”, caught on a merry-go-round of doing from which you can’t seem to step off? While doing has plentiful merit, it is necessary to balance it with being. We simply have forgotten how to do this. Join Anne for an afternoon during which we will re-learn to stop on purpose, to clear and calm body and mind. Find out how meditation can help strengthen mindfulness (sati), our capacity to experience “ things as they are” directly, without the filter of discursive thinking, evaluation or habitual reactivity. We will learn how to bring a natural and clear attention to whatever occurs in the present moment. Experience “wakefulness of mind,” “lucidity of mind,” “alertness” and “undistracted attention” and see how presence can foster ease of mind, body and heart.

3 hour workshop, tuition $40, minimum of students: 8

Yoga for Scoliosis

Living with scoliosis can be a daily exercise in frustration, chronic pain and the emotional ups and downs that can go along with always being the proverbial round peg trying to fit into the square hole.
Yoga can provide not only a decrease in daily pain levels, but also an increase in flexibility and personal empowerment. This workshop will cover the different kinds of curve patterns, how a yoga practice can be used to create length in those shortened, tight muscles and build overall strength in the most symmetrical manner appropriate for your body. You will learn how to adapt poses to your specific needs and come to understand some of the issues with proprioception that are common in those living with scoliosis.
Basic yoga poses will be presented from a totally different perspective that, when practiced regularly, will help you find your own unique balance. Not only will you walk away feeling better, but you will also have become part of a network of individuals that will continue to support and empower you long after this workshop is over.

Students will move their bodies through guided yoga asana as well as free form dance and expression. This workshop will come to life on and off the mat.
This is a conscious movement practice of embodiment for developing presence. Through this introductory exploration with guided imagery and movement practices we will began to form pathways within ourselves to amplify and consciously connect to the deep presence which resides within each one of us. As we move through this musical-energetic journey within ourselves we also move through the journey as one. It becomes a creative container to hold the flow of energy as it moves through the body. This practice has the potential to energize, restore, and release that which is ready to move out of the body. In doing so, we open more space to feel and embody presence. Presence is where we are fully alive!

Our gift to YOU this Holiday Season: the Ultimate Relaxation Experience

We want to thank you, students and partners, for a wonderful year at our new location, and for over 8 years of practice and support. Please save the evening and join teachers Rebeca Wadsworth and Sara Corbishley for a 90-minute yoga nidra and singing bowl meditation class.

We’ll begin with 15 mins of gentle yoga to workout the kinks and settle into a 75 minute yoga nidra practice along with singing bowl meditation. You will be skillfully guided through various breathing techniques, body part focuses and visualizations to help you enter the deepest possible state of relaxation while still maintaining full consciousness. The crystal bowls will be played throughout the meditation, opening up chakras (energy centers of the body) and thus allowing for a deeper relaxation.

Yoga Nidra is a harmonious sleep-like state that is reported during deep meditation. You’ll follow the voice of the narrator, Rebeca, while lying comfortably on your back in Savanasa or any other relaxed posture that might be better for you.

Through the 75-minute class, your brain waves will enter into alpha waves, which are very similar to a sleeping state. You will remain awake and conscious while slowly descending into a deep relaxed state.

This special class is for everybody, regardless of age, fitness level or experience. We hope you will join us. This event is likely to fill up, so please reserve a space by clicking the button below.

The years I spent learning about the wellness benefits of music have been channeled into “Sacred Sound Healing” my first professional recording.  I have been working with Sound Acutonics since 2004 and offering Sound Healing Workshops, Sacred Sound Healing Concerts, Classes and Events since 2008. I continue to tour and travel throughout the year with my sacred music and yoga.

“Sacred music is becoming a bigger part of my path and a deeper part of my service. I listen with my hands and heart while I trust in the divinity of this sacred music. The mystery, magic, and medicine of the healing sound moves through me with deep grace. I am humbled and honored to share this ‘Sacred Sound Healing’ with the world." Namaste, Kristen Rubis.
